ACCOMMODATION This popular and successful department is housed in two dedicated History rooms which are fully equipped with white boards, OHPs, TVs, videos and computers. CURRICULUM KS3: 2 x 50-minute lessons; KS4: 4 x 50 minutes AS: 5 x 50 minutes A2: 6 x 50 minutes KS3: YEAR7 Roman Empire; Medieval Realms-Britain 1066-1500; Castles and Cathedrals: 1066-1500. YEAR 8 The Reformation and its consequences; the Aztecs; Power of the Monarchy in the 17th century; The American West; The French Revolution. YEAR 9 The Industrial Revolution – 1750 – 1850; Twentieth Century World. KS4: GCSE YEAR 10 and 11. AQA Modern World History 3042 C/W. Conflict in the Modern World 1900 – 1949; Governments in Action in the First Half of the Twentieth Century. Coursework component: WWII. AS YEAR 12 AQA 5041 HS1J: The origins and consolidation of Totalitarian Regimes 1918 – 1939. HS2R: Britain 1895 – 1918. HS03: The effects of WWI 1915 – 1924 and aspects of British History 1895 – 1921. A2 YEAR 13 AQA 6041 HS4J: Totalitarian ideologies, economic, social and foreign policies 1848 – 1956. HS5R: Britain 1918 – 1951. HS6J: The Holocaust 1938 – 1945. OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM The Department arranges visits to historical sites, e.g. Conwy Castle, Quarry Bank Mill, Roman Chester and The Battlefields of W.W.I and W.W.II. These trips enrich learning, provide a wealth of evidence for students and make historical events come alive. EXAMINATIONS All examination classes follow AQA specifications. KS4 Coursework deadline: February 28th of Year 11. AS Coursework: set between April and May. Results
