OLD CESTRIANS' ANNUAL DINNER - FRIDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2009
AT THE CRESTA COURT HOTEL
TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE SCHOOL OFFICE. 0161 928 1856
All
pupils get the chance to join the Old Cestrians’ Association
before their departure and a one-off payment of £20 secures life
membership guaranteeing an annual newsletter and update on school events.
Membership now runs to nearly 1600 Old Boys, some still living close
to School, but many others spread out across the country, Europe and
the world.
Regular events include a golf competition and the Annual Dinner. The
latter has a fixed date and venue to make sure that those who have
little contact with the area know they will not be forgotten. If you
are an Old Boy surfing the web then remember the date is always the
first Friday in February and the venue the Cresta Court Hotel close
to school.
2006 marked the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of the Old Cestrians’ and
the result was an exceptionally large turn out for the Dinner with
over 200 Old Boys attending for the first time in many years. Master
of Ceremonies was former Head of 34 years, Peter Morton, while speeches
were given by Old Cestrian David Wheeler and former teachers Tom Giles
and Trevor Laverock.
At the end of the Dinner a special presentation of a Silver Salver
was made to OC John Gresty, elected onto the Committee at its very
first meeting and still serving the Association 50 years later.
